Barnsley Older People Physical Activity Alliance

The Barnsley Older People Physical Activity Alliance (BOPPAA) is aiming to increase the provision of physical activity programmes that will improve the strength and balance of older people across Barnsley.

Funded by Barnsley Council and led by Age UK Barnsley, the BOPPAA is an alliance of NHS, private and third sector organisations offering physical activity opportunities for over 50s in Barnsley.

Reds Connect Exercise Class. There is no need to worry if you haven’t exercised in a while, our delivery staff are able to tailor activities to support individual goals and fitness levels allowing you to develop at your own pace. Our session allows participants to engage in physical activity in a safe and relaxed environment and participants are encouraged to connect and socialise with each other. Activities include Circuits, Boxercise, Zumba and much more with participants shaping the delivery on a weekly basis.

Next Steps Forward. Walks within Barnsley and district for people living with and beyond breast cancer. The walks are led by experienced walk leaders and are on good paths with no steep hills at a pace to suit everyone. The routes vary each week and take in some beautiful scenery in Barnsley and the surrounding areas as well some local cafes too! Get in touch to get the monthly timetable and to book a place.
